Sweet as Candy Deadline
The deadline for the Sweet as Candy program at Wood Library is fast approaching. If you want to take part in coloring and filling your own chocolate lollipops and decorating a mug to carry them in for Valentine's Day, you must register by Saturday, February 3. The Winners of This Year's Teen Bake-Off Are In!
Congratulations to Wood Library's first-ever Best Teen Baker of 2007 Travis McMillan! Travis took home the $50 Le Gourmet Chef Giftcard with his original Brownie Peanut Butter Pie. Maggie Cole earned her Second Place finish and $25 Wegmans Giftcard with her delicious Pineapple Cream Pie. Brittany Martin and Katherine Rich both tied for Third Place and deservedly so. Brittany Martin won with her decadent Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie and Katherine Rich won with her sweet and tart Raspberry Pie. Both received a $15 gift certificate to the Rose Corner Bakery. All participants did an outstanding job and their pies were enjoyed by all. Thank you to all those who put their time and effort into creating a truly tempting dessert.
A special thanks to our judges - Gretchen Gerstner from the Rose Corner Bakery, Trudy Smith from the Wegmans Bakery, and Renee Daldry from the New York Wine and Culinary Center - you did a very difficult, but fantastic job!

Back by popular demand, Sweet as Candy is returning for a second year in a row! Add real thought to your Valentine’s Day by making that special someone homemade chocolate lollipops and placing them in a mug you decorated yourself! On Monday, February 5 at 7 PM, color and fill your own chocolate candy molds and then decorate a mug. A sweet gift for anyone, or even yourself! Registration is required. Space is limited! 1st Annual Teen Bake-Off Deadline
The deadline for the first ever Teen Bake-Off is drawing near. Register by Friday, January 19 to get your name in and compete with other Canandaigua teen bakers for the top prize - a $50 giftcard to Le Gourmet Chef! The Main Event takes places on Saturday, January 20th from 12-2 PM at Wood Library. Judges from the Rose Corner Bakery, Wegmans Bakery, and the New York Wine and Culinary Center will carefully sample the tasty desserts and pick their favorites. Who ever thought that baking a pie could be so rewarding?

2006 is drawing to a close and Wood Library has certainly been THE place to be for teens! Through programs, contests, presentations, and class visits, Wood Library has been there for

Where are the Anime DVDs?! Don't panic! The Anime DVDs have been moved from the general DVD collection to the Teen Lounge. You can spot them more easily and they are located below the Video Game and Music Collections. Keep your eyes peeled...new Anime will be arriving shortly! Do you have suggestions? Let me know!

1st Annual Teen Bake-Off
Saturday, January 20, 12-2 PM
Think you're THE best baker in town? Proving it won't be as easy as pie! Put your baking skills to the test and showcase your culinary talents at Wood Library's 1st Annual Teen Bake-Off. What do you need to do? Choose the ultimate recipe, register at Wood Library, bake the best darn pie that Canandaigua has ever tasted, and bring it with you along with the recipe* on Saturday, January 20. Judges from the Rose Corner Bakery, Wegmans Bakery, and the New York State Wine and Culinary Center will be on hand to sample the pies and decide who should be crowned Canandaigua's Best Teen Baker for 2007. Besides bragging rights, winners will also receive great prizes to further their culinary skills - 1st Place Winner will receive a $50 Gift Card to Le Gourmet Chef, 2nd Place will receive a $25 Gift Card to Wegmans, and 3rd Place will receive a $15 Gift Certificate to the Rose Corner Bakery.
*Recipes will later be shared to help raise money for Wood Library.
