Calling all artists and graphic novel fans...
On November 6 at 6 PM, Wood Library is excited and honored to host Phil Yeh's Graphic Novel Workshop! Who exactly is Phil Yeh? He is a nationally recognized cartoonist and writer, and is affectionately called “The Godfather of the Graphic Novel." He will share his experience in art and writing as well as his love of reading with local audiences. In the 1970’s, Yeh became one of the first cartoonists to write, draw and publish a graphic novel based on original material. The California artist is the creator of more than 80 comics and graphic novels. Yeh is proud of The Winged Tiger, a wordless graphic novel that has been voted one of the best 25 graphic novels in print. He has collaborated with George Lucas (“Star Wars”), Lynn Johnston (“For Better or Worse”), Kevin Eastman (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) and many more artists from around the world to develop materials to encourage young people to read and create for success. The graphic novel workshop that Phil Yeh will present is designed to inspire budding artists and writers to create their own works. Yeh shares his evolution as a graphic novel writer and cartoonist while encouraging others to enter the field. Audiences will have a chance to work with him and participate in the cartooning process. Bring a sketchpad! Contact me for more information!
