The High Strung
Tuesday, June 30
7 PM

For the past five years the quirky, carefree, energetic music of Detroit’s The High Strung has been electrifying patrons across the nation with the sunny three-part harmonies and witty, lyrical bravado. This year the guitars that accompany the band’s catchy sing-along choruses are roaming the country again and are headed to Wood Library on Tuesday, June 30 at 7 PM.  In addition to playing a full-set of their rousing Beatles-esque jams, concert goers will learn what it’s like to tour year-round and what sort of enthusiasm it takes to maintain such faith in your art. With a new album coming out on Park the Van Records in spring 2009, The High Strung will perform a mix of favorites and new tunes, as well as writing and performing a new song at the library with the help of the audience. All ages welcome to attend.  In addition, The High Strung are posting unreleased tracks and other exclusive material to their new Mon/Wed/Fri Blog at http://thehighstrung.tumblr.com/. Their new album, Ode to the Inverse of the Dude, is now available at iTunes, Amazon, and record stores everywhere. Full tour listings (including non-library stops) are posted at http://www.thehighstrung.com  This organization is supported in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, which is administered locally by Phelps Historical Society & Phelps Arts Center.  A “Let’s Hear It!” Wood Library program.  Contact Jenny Goodemote at 394-1381 or jgoodemote@pls-net.org for more information.
