Teen Summer Reading Program - June 30–July 28
Read whatever you want this summer - books, magazines, graphic novels, manga, audiobooks, and ebooks - and win awesome prizes! For every book you read and program you attend, get a raffle ticket and enter it into the prize that you want! All raffle tickets will then be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing for a Kobo e-reader! Register online at:

Teen Nite Summer Reading Kick-Off - Thursday, June 30, 6:00-8:00 PM
Celebrate freedom and kick-off summer reading by hanging out at Teen Nite! But that's not all, FREE ice cream sundaes too! Get a jumpstart on summer by playing video games & board games, surfing the web, and enjoying snacks. Sign up for summer reading, or hang out with friends—or both!

Summer Drama Club - Tuesday-Friday, July 5-July 8, 1:00-3:00 PM
Get ready for the Teen Theater auditions and just have fun by learning acting tips from Katie Michalko, a Teen Theater and Academy Productions Alumna. Participants will have a blast with acting exercises and games.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Marathon - Starting July 14, then Mondays thru August 22, 6:00-9:00 PM
Buffy was around way before vampires were cool so come discover were it all began! Continue watching the entire series with Canandaigua Middle School teacher John Michalko and learn more than just about vampires! For Grades 8-12.

Tie-Dye Saturday - Saturday, July 2, 12:00-1:30 PM (teen session)
No matter what, tie-dye has always been cool. Here's your chance just to see how much fun it is to create your own tie-dye shirt with the colors and design that you want to wear! All participating teens are required to bring their own t-shirt. Drop in!

Teen Theater Auditions - Thursday, July 7, 8:00-9:00 PM & Friday, July 8, 3:30-5:00 PM
Be a part of the fun! Whether you're a seasoned actor and need to keep your acting skills sharp over the summer, or a novice performer who would like to have a taste of acting, Teen Theater is for you! Perform a play written by teens and work with Canandaigua Academy Drama teacher Scott Schauman to bring it to life! Rehearsals take place from July 11-22. Must attend both performances on July 22 & 23. This program is supported by Wendy’s of Rochester.

Anime Club - Thursday, July 21, 6:00-8:00 PM
Get out of the heat and into Wood Library! Sit back, relax, and watch a Japanese animated film or tv show in cool comfort with a bunch of munchies and cool drinks. Must be 13 years old and up. Prizes given away!

Teen Cache Bash - Tuesday, July 5, 6:00-8:00 PM
Did you like The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins? Answer trivia questions a whole new way by joining other teens in the high-tech outdoor activity of geocaching! Participants will learn how to use a GPS unit to search for clues in a Hunger Games-themed geocaching adventure on the library property. All participants will be eligible for an awesome prize at the end of their search. Registration required.

Teen Cache Bash - Tuesday, July 12, 6:00-8:00 PM
Can’t get enough of The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan? In this second part of the geocaching series, participants will learn how to use a GPS unit to search for clues in a Lightning Thief-themed geocaching adventure on the library property by answering trivia questions. All participants will be eligible for an awesome prize at the end of their search. Registration required.

Teen Cache Bash - Tuesday, July 19, 6:00-8:00 PM
Get out and find hidden treasures in downtown Canandaigua! After an introduction on geocaching and learning how to use a GPS unit, participants will team up and explore downtown Canandaigua in search of caches hidden right under their noses. The search will end at the City Pier with all participants receiving a free ice cream cone! Registration and permission slip required.

Stuck in the Middle Book Discussion Group - Wednesdays, July 6 & July 20, 6:30 PM
Why not have fun while reading this summer? Hang out with other middleschoolers who love reading just as much as you do. Books will be selected at the first meeting. Milk and homemade cookies served! For grades 7-8 only.

Cerealism - Wednesday, July 13, 6:15-8:15 PM
Michael Albert has been making art since his college days at NYU. After 7 years of drawing, he began an exploration in collage, using materials that no longer have any use, like cereal boxes and other empty packages. He now has a collection of over 500 cereal box collages that he calls “Cerealism” and wants to show you how to do it! If you like art, this is for you! Supplies will be provided. All ages welcome. Free gift to every participant!

Teen Theater Performances - Friday, July 22, 7:00 PM @ TBD and Saturday, July 23, Noon @ Wood Library
Find out what teens have been working on all summer long - from writing to rehearsing to performing. Free admission. Open to the public. This program is sponsored by Wendy’s of Rochester.

Comic Creation & Publishing Workshop - July 25-29, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Join a fabulous team of comic writers and artists! Michael Churchill, professional writer and owner of Pulp Nouveau Comix, and Ken Wheaton, professional artist, will guide you through the process of writing, drawing, and inking your own comic strip! Then see your artwork published into a comic book both in print and on the web! Registration required. Recommended for grades 7 and up. This program is supported by Wendy’s of Rochester.

Teen Nite/Pizza Taste-Off/Summer Reading Drawings - Thursday, July 28, 6:00-8:00 PM
A jam-packed evening! You couldn't ask for anything better than videogames, board games, friends, wifi laptops, pizza, and prizes all in one night! First, hang out during the Teen Nite festivities, then decide in a blind taste-test which pizzeria in
Canandaigua has the best cheese, crust, sauce, and overall taste. Stay to the very end to find out who will win the prize packs from this year's Summer Reading Program. Don't forget to bring in the tickets you earned so you can stuff the boxes before the drawings. You do not have to participate in the Summer Reading Program to attend Teen Nite or the Pizza Taste-Off.
